Living the moment

As two photographers, I hope we can take more photos together before this one leaves. We're typically behind the camera and I'm really going to cherish these silly impromptu shots when Josh leaves for a year-long hospital residency starting in a few weeks. Until then though, here's to living in the present!

I love tellling this story at lunchtime...

So a couple of days ago, I woke up, got dressed, did the mundane usual while grumbling because I was up before noon and went to start my car. Only, I didn't have power steering like I did when I parked it the night before. Hm. And since I'm just about a complete idiot when it comes to cars, I drove where I needed to go and then home and left it to figure it out later.

(Later.)
A few hours have passed, still no power steering.
(A day and a half later.)

Still no power steering. Dangit, it didn't fix itself. Okay, so since my fiance Josh is at work, I enlist the help of his brother to help me try to fix the power steering before the muscles in my arms get too big from the workout I get while trying to park my car! We check the power steering fluid, thinking it's low or I have a leak - nope, it's full to the line. Oookay. So I check it into the dealer for them to figure it out because that's about all I can do is check a liquid container...

FINALLY, the dealer calls me and the conversation goes something like this:
"Ma'am we found what's wrong with your power steering and you're not going to believe this--"

"Ohmygosh, is it fixable?!"
"Oh, yeah, definitely - the belt snapped in your engine which disables the power steering, but you won't believe WHY it snapped..."
"Uhh.."
"Get this: a chipmunk crawled up into your engine, chewed through the belt, and you basically diced it up when you started your car."
"AHHEWW! How do you know for sure it was a chipmunk??"
"Because I removed it with my bare hands!"

This happen to anybody else??? 'Cause that was one expensive chipmunk, I love all animals but that rodent cost $60.00!

I put a sign in front of my car: No Rooms Available.
And I'm still watching my back in case a mob of chipmunks jumps me in the woods...!!
